Jon Rahm Addresses Rumors of Joining LIV Golf

Jon Rahm, one of the world’s top golfers, has recently been the subject of numerous rumors regarding his potential move to LIV Golf. The two-time major champion and current world No. 3 has spoken out about these rumors in the past, but has remained tight-lipped in recent weeks.

In previous interviews, Rahm expressed his loyalty and support for the PGA Tour. As a member of the Player Advisory Council, he has faith in the Tour’s leadership and its commitment to providing the best platform for players. Rahm stated that he believes his future and golf legacy are best served by competing on the PGA Tour, rather than joining the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league.

While Rahm understands the monetary appeal that LIV Golf may hold for some players, he emphasized that money is not his driving force. He plays the game for the love of it and seeks to compete against the best in the world. Rahm values the historical significance and meaning associated with winning prestigious tournaments like the Memorial Championship and Arnold Palmer’s events. These experiences and the camaraderie within the PGA Tour hold more weight for him than the potential financial rewards of joining LIV Golf.

Throughout the 2021-22 season, Rahm remained focused on his performance on the PGA Tour and paid little attention to the LIV Golf developments. He was even unaware of a court hearing that denied LIV Golf players Talor Gooch, Matt Jones, and Hudson Swafford access to the first playoff event. Rahm expressed that he had no sympathy for these players, as they had willingly chosen to leave the PGA Tour and face the consequences.

Despite the talent drain caused by LIV Golf’s recruiting efforts, Rahm believes that the PGA Tour’s depth of field ensures a constant influx of talented and ambitious golfers. He mentioned rising stars like Will Zalatoris and Cameron Young as examples of the Tour’s thriving talent pool.
