A preliminary 2.5 magnitude earthquake shook Wednesday morning near San Jose, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake hit at 4:28 a.m. and was centered about 8 miles northeast of San Jose and about 8 miles southeast of Milpitas, the USGS said.
